The Civil Litigation Unit serves as the Sheriff’s Office’s primary resource for managing legal matters, claims, subpoenas for records, and public records requests. The unit works closely with County Counsel and County Risk Management to investigate and oversee all claims and lawsuits filed against the Sheriff's Office. The Civil Litigation Unit also receives, reviews, and processes all California Public Records Act (CPRA) requests submitted to the Sheriff's Office.
